2026 Field Day – Scouts – Blue Springs (JOTA) event

June 26 - June 28
When: Friday afternoon, June 26th till Sunday late afternoon
Where: Blue Springs Scout Reserve – Ebor Park
14175 Sixth Line Nassagaweya, Milton, ON L7J 2L7
Accommodations: We have access to three small cottages. They include a kitchen, fridge, bathroom, bunk beds, and hydro.
Food: The club will provide dinner on Saturday. Members are responsible for self-catering all other meals. The cabin has a stove with pots, pans, and cooking utensils. Bring your own mess kit (plate, cutlery, mug).
Scouts: In exchange for allowing us the use of the camp, we will be putting on a JOTA (Jamboree on the Air) / JOTA (Get on the Air) for the youth on Saturday and Sunday morning. They will be making simple contacts and playing a radio scavenger hunt. Please feel free to help and contribute.
Personal packing list:
  • Food with the exception of Saturday dinner
  • Cutlery, plate, bowl, mug
  • Pillow and bedding (bunk beds have a mattress)
  • Chair to sit around the fire
  • Refillable water bottle (camp water is safe and drinkable)
  • Indoor slippers
Radio packing list (don’t worry if you don’t have a radio, there will be enough to share):
  • Radio
  • Antennas
  • Coax
  • Extension cords
  • Handi talkie (we need extras for the scouts to use)
  • Laptop for logging
Logging software: The club has purchased logging software. You can download it at the following:
  • Call sign – VE3ZM
  • Passcode – 37673
  • The Class / Section will be 6D
  • Remember, all contacts use the club call sign, VE3ZM
  • Phil will set up a LAN so all the logging laptops can communicate and avoid duplicates.
Parking:
Vehicles may load / unload at the cabins. Parking is in the lot about halfway up the driveway.
Other notes:
Scout camps are alcohol free. So bring your favorite soda pop for the fire.
Internet will be spotty depending on which carrier you use. We think Rogers will be better than Bell.
It would be much appreciated, if you have a modern SDR and are willing, to leave it at camp for the weekend. That way we will have good quality stations and our new members will get to test out a variety of radios. If you are not coming out or will only be out for a brief time, you can drop off your radio in advance with Steve, Berry or Craig.
The cabin only has 120v. Therefor, we will all be running ‘barefoot’, 100 watts or less.
We need a few extra handi talkie’s for use by the scouts.
Our goal is to leave the cabin cleaner than we found it. Please be continually cleaning up after yourself. Also, consider bringing a separate set of indoor shoes.
